To the plane was cut off moments before that crash. Now, according to the report released by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, the flight lasted about 30 seconds between takeoff and and crash. And once it reached its top recorded speed, fuel control switches for the engines were moved from the run to the cutoff position, starving both engines of fuel. Now, the report did not say how the switches could have flipped. One of the engines was able to be restarted, but the plane could not gain power quickly enough as it began to lose altitude. This preliminary report also indicated that both pilots were confused over the change to the switch setting.

Central Texas is grappling with another bout of heavy rain, exacerbating the aftermath of last week's devastating flash floods. The region remains on high alert as authorities continue the desperate search for over 170 missing individuals.
Key Points:
Rescue Operations: Night and day crews, including riverbank hikers, debris removal teams, cadaver dogs, and dive units, are tirelessly working to locate survivors and recover victims from floodwaters.
Weather Forecast: Forecasters warn that the Hill Country remains under a Level 2 out of 4 flash flood threat for the night. "It really would only take one thunderstorm to cause flooding in a region that's already so saturated," Katie Byrne stated at [00:17].
Impact on Victims: The community mourns the loss of 12-year-old Shiloh Wilson, a young rodeo competitor who perished when his family's RV was swept away. A poignant procession is underway as his family prepares to return home to Houston for burial.
Fatalities and Storm Damage: The floods have claimed at least 120 lives, with storms expected to bring additional hazards such as hail and damaging winds, further complicating rescue and recovery efforts.
Reporter: Deborah Valentine
A significant court decision has impacted the Trump administration's immigration policies in California. A judge has ordered the cessation of indiscriminate immigration stops and arrests across seven counties, including Los Angeles.
Key Points:
Legal Grounds: Immigration advocacy groups filed a lawsuit alleging that the Trump administration's policies constituted systematic targeting of "brown-skinned people." The judge ruled that arrests were being made without "reasonable suspicion" of illegal status, heavily relying on "improper factors like race, accent, and line of work" ([01:15]).
Rights of Detainees: The court highlighted that detainees were "denied adequate access to lawyers," further violating constitutional protections.
Temporary Measures: The judge's order is a temporary block, pending further legal reviews, as the case challenges broader immigration enforcement practices at the federal level.
Reporter: Deborah Valentine
In a startling development, a judge has released a letter from Ryan Roth, accused of plotting to assassinate former President Donald Trump. Roth's correspondence offers a bizarre proposal and reveals his personal state of despair.
Key Points:
Content of the Letter: Ryan Roth appeals for a prisoner exchange, wishing to be traded to nations such as Hamas, Iran, China, or Russia. He explicitly states, "I beg the judge to allow me to freeze to death in Siberia as part of a prisoner exchange with Russia so I can die" ([02:43]).
Charges: Roth is charged with attempting to assassinate President Trump by targeting him with a rifle at Trump's Palm Beach golf course on September 15, 2024. His arrest occurred after a Secret Service agent identified his suspicious activity.
Psychological State: Roth expresses a deep sense of hopelessness, writing, "Set nearly 60 a life of nothingness without love. What is the point?" This highlights potential mental health issues underlying his actions.
Reporter: Stephanie Bennett from Fox News
A preliminary report on the Air India crash, which claimed 260 lives last month, has shed light on possible mechanical failures that led to the disaster.
Key Points:
Crash Timeline: The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of India revealed that the flight experienced a catastrophic failure approximately 30 seconds after takeoff. According to the report released at [03:38], fuel control switches for both engines were inadvertently flipped from "run" to "cutoff," effectively starving the engines of fuel.
Engine Failures: Although one engine was restarted, the aircraft could not regain sufficient power, leading to a rapid loss of altitude and eventual crash. The confusion among the pilots regarding the switch settings likely contributed to the inability to manage the emergency effectively.
Investigation Status: India's Civil Aviation Minister emphasized that the report's findings are preliminary. "No one should jump to any conclusions until the report is final," he stated at [04:19]. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the switch malfunction.
