A scathing Secret Service report. I'm Kevin Uretsky, FOX News. It's now been one year since a would be assassin's bullet grazed the ear of then presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Now a new report is offering details about what went wrong.
Alexis McAdams
We're still finding out more about exactly what happened that day in the field and how many failures there were. According to a new Government Accountability Office report released by Senator Chuck Grassley this weekend. The Secret Service knew Trump's life was in danger 10 days before he walked out onto the stage in Butler, but they didn't share that intel with their own team who was on the ground. The Secret Service says it's made major changes since that day and they do have new leadership. Also, another new Senate report says the Trump team asked several times to have more security while they were on the trail because they said President Trump's life was in danger several times. But the Secret Service denied those requests.

You have more than 170 people across the state still missing. You've had thousands of people on the ground in and around the Guadalupe river tirelessly searching for them. Those search efforts suspended right now. It was about 8 this morning when we were closer to the bridge. We were in the middle of the a live shot and a police officer with the Kerrville Police Department came up to us. He said you have to get out of here. And then about 10 minutes later, we got that alert on our phones about a life threatening flash flood warning. Ingram Fire Department has ordered search crews to evacuate the Guadalupe river corridor until further notice. Officials have spoken about how difficult this search effort has already been because victims were swept miles from where they were.

A suspect shot and injured a state trooper this morning at the airport in Lexington, Kentucky and then fled to a church where multiple people were injured in a second shooting. The shooting spree then ended with the suspect being killed, the trooper and others who were hurt being treated at a hospital. The extent of their injuries not yet known. A preliminary report is out on the Air India crash that killed 260 people last month. Investigators revealing new details on what happened in the cockpit moments before impact. It appears fuel to the plane was cut off moments before it crashed. Now According to that 15 page report released this morning by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, the flight lasted about 30 seconds between takeoff and crash. And once it reached its top recorded SPE fuel control switches for the engines moved from the run to the cutoff position, starving both engines of fuel. The report did not say how the switches flipped, but says they were flipped back to run. But the plane could not gain power quickly enough as it was losing altitude. The preliminary report also indicated that both pilots were confused over the change to the switch setting.

India's civil aviation minister says the report's findings are preliminary and no one should jump to any conclusions until the final report. And some good news for drivers across the U.S. gas prices fell a considerable amount over the last couple of weeks. Oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg, the publisher of the Lundberg survey, tells us how.
Trilby Lundberg
Much gasoline prices have dropped 9 cents per gallon in the past couple of weeks. And the price for regular grade now averages $3.22. And that's a big discount from a year ago, 39 cents lower now.

Lumberg says there's ample supply right now for the level of American demand. So she expects prices to remain stable unless oil prices rise significantly. I'm Kevin Uretzky and this is FOX News.

Kevin Uretsky opens the broadcast with a critical examination of the Secret Service’s handling of security for former presidential candidate Donald Trump. Reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Uretsky highlights a scathing Secret Service report that reveals significant failures in protecting Trump's life.
Alexis McAdams elaborates on the findings, stating, “[00:17] We're still finding out more about exactly what happened that day in the field and how many failures there were.” The Government Accountability Office report, released by Senator Chuck Grassley, indicates that the Secret Service had intelligence about the imminent threat to Trump's life 10 days prior to the rally but failed to disseminate this crucial information to the on-ground security team. Furthermore, McAdams notes that the Trump campaign had requested increased security multiple times, citing ongoing dangers, but these requests were denied by the Secret Service.
In response to the criticism, the Secret Service claims to have implemented major changes and new leadership to prevent such oversights in the future. However, the revelations have sparked intense scrutiny over the agency’s protocols and communication strategies during high-risk events.
Transitioning to natural disasters, Kevin Uretsky reports on the devastating flash floods in Kerr County, Texas, which have resulted in at least 129 deaths. The severe weather has severely hampered ongoing search and rescue operations.
Brook Taylor provides a detailed account from the ground: “[01:07] You have more than 170 people across the state still missing.” Thousands are tirelessly searching around the Guadalupe River, but a severe flash flood warning issued at 8:00 AM led to the suspension of these efforts. Taylor recounts a tense moment when search and rescue teams were evacuated after a police officer warned them of the imminent danger, resulting in a temporary halt to operations. The Ingram Fire Department has ordered all search crews to stay clear of the Guadalupe River corridor until conditions improve.
Officials have expressed concern over the difficulty in locating victims, as many were swept miles away from their original locations, complicating rescue missions and increasing the challenges faced by emergency responders.
The update continues with a harrowing account of a shooting spree in Lexington, Kentucky. Kevin Uretsky details the morning’s tragic events, where a suspect shot and injured a state trooper at the Lexington Airport before fleeing to a nearby church. The situation escalated as multiple individuals were injured during a second shooting at the church, ultimately ending with the suspect being killed by law enforcement.
While the extent of injuries remains unclear, authorities have confirmed that both the trooper and other victims are receiving treatment at local hospitals. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about public safety and gun violence in public spaces.
Kevin Uretsky shifts focus to aviation safety, discussing the preliminary report on the recent Air India crash that tragically resulted in the deaths of 260 people. Stephanie Bennett presents the initial findings from India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, suggesting that the fuel supply was deliberately cut off moments before the aircraft crashed.
Bennett explains, “[03:02] It appears fuel to the plane was cut off moments before it crashed.” The report details that the flight lasted approximately 30 seconds from takeoff to impact. It was discovered that the SPE fuel control switches for both engines were moved from the "run" to the "cutoff" position, effectively starving the engines of fuel. Although the report does not clarify how the switches were flipped, it notes that they were restored to the "run" position, but the plane was unable to regain sufficient power in time as it continued to lose altitude.
Preliminary observations also indicate that the pilots were confused by the sudden change in switch settings, contributing to the crash. India’s civil aviation minister cautions against drawing conclusions until the final report is released, emphasizing that the current findings are still under review.
In a positive economic update, Kevin Uretsky highlights a significant drop in gasoline prices across the United States, offering some financial relief to drivers. Trilby Lundberg, an oil industry analyst and publisher of the Lundberg survey, provides the specifics: “[04:01] Much gasoline prices have dropped 9 cents per gallon in the past couple of weeks.” The average price for regular-grade gasoline has fallen to $3.22 per gallon, marking a 39-cent decrease compared to the same time last year.
Lundberg attributes the price drop to a current ample supply of oil meeting American demand, suggesting that prices are expected to remain stable unless there is a significant rise in oil prices. This stability is anticipated to benefit consumers and support economic stability in the near term.
Fox News Hourly Update provided a comprehensive overview of critical national and international events, ranging from security lapses and natural disasters to violent incidents and economic shifts. The broadcast emphasized the importance of accountability in government agencies, the challenges faced by emergency responders, concerns over public safety, ongoing investigations into aviation accidents, and positive developments in consumer economics.
