Ahead of the summit in Alaska Friday, Russia continues launching drones into Ukraine. Putin has rejected Trump's calls for a cease fire for months. Russia wants more territory in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region where most of its minerals are located. It's unclear how any potential deal with Russia would impact President Trump's mineral rights deal with Ukraine.

Iran is threatening to block a US Sponsored trade corridor near the Europe Asia border. Details from Fox's Chanley Painter.
Chanley Painter
The move comes hours after it was outlined in a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The proposed route would help transport goods and other resources. It's unclear how Iran would block the corridor. Tensions between the US And Iran have been high since President Trump ordered strikes on Tehran over its nuclear facilities.
Paul Stevens
Now, Iran says that corridor could open the way for NATO to position itself, quote, unquote, like a viper between Iran and Russia. ICE officials arresting a child predator in Rhode island after police there released him back into the community after he was originally arrested.

ICE says it immediately issued a detainer for the suspect, only to have it ignored. Thankfully, federal agents were still able to find Josue Santiago Perez Gomez after he was released. Get this locally on bail. ICE says Josue Santiago Perez Gomez is a Guatemalan national who entered the US Illegally, but the feds aren't sure where or when he came through. The suspect's attorney has not responded to our request for comment, but the Boston Globe quotes the lawyer as saying Mr. Perez Gomez has a clean record and maintains his innocence, as is his right to do so. He was released on bail with conditions and would have remained on bail complying with those conditions until he was given his day in court. ICE has deprived Mr. Gomez of those rights.

And that's Fox's CB Cotton. Six people, including a five year old girl, all wounded in a shooting in Baltimore. Gunfire breaking out last night as folks gathered for a block party. 5 year old girl was hit in the hand. Her injury does not appear to be serious, but one victim is listed in critical condition and underwent surgery at a hospital. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. The incident remains under investigation. I'm Paul Stevens and this is FOX News.

Fox News Hourly Update: 4PM ET | August 10, 2025
The latest episode of the Fox News Hourly Update delves into several pressing international and domestic issues, including high-stakes diplomatic meetings, geopolitical tensions, law enforcement actions, and a tragic local incident. This comprehensive summary highlights the key discussions, insights, and conclusions drawn during the broadcast.
[00:02] Paul Stevens opens the episode by announcing an anticipated meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for Friday in Alaska. This summit aims to negotiate a potential peace deal to end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
[00:20] Lucas Tomlinson elaborates on the White House's stance, stating, “The White House says it will just be President Trump and President Putin meeting face to face in Alaska.” He adds that while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not officially invited, future discussions will necessitate a direct dialogue between Zelensky and Putin.
An unnamed analyst emphasizes the importance of this meeting, remarking, “This is something where the president needs to force President Putin and President Zelensky really to sit down to figure out their differences.” This underscores the administration's strategy to broker peace by facilitating direct communications between the conflicting parties.
Despite the hopeful prospect of talks, Lucas Tomlinson highlights the persistent challenges: “Ahead of the summit in Alaska Friday, Russia continues launching drones into Ukraine.” He notes that Putin has consistently rejected Trump’s calls for a ceasefire, insisting on gaining more territory in Eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, rich in minerals. The implications of any potential agreement on President Trump’s mineral rights deal with Ukraine remain uncertain.
[00:56] Paul Stevens underscores the historical significance of the upcoming summit, noting, “Friday's get together looks to be the first in-person meeting between the leaders of the US and Russia since Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine back in 2022.” He introduces Ukraine's top U.S. diplomat, who expresses hope for a ceasefire following the summit.
[01:14] Oksana Markarova, Ukraine’s U.S. Ambassador, shares her aspirations: “She hopes President Trump and sanctions imposed end the war.” An unnamed Ukrainian representative echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the desire for peace to protect Ukrainian citizens, cities, defenders, and children.
Markarova further reveals, “The White House said it is open to adding Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Alaska meeting should that happen.” However, Zelensky remains firm in his stance: “Zelensky says there is no path toward the war's end that will include Ukraine giving up any of its land to Russia.”
Shifting focus to broader geopolitical tensions, Paul Stevens reports on Iran’s recent threat to obstruct a U.S.-sponsored trade corridor near the Europe-Asia border. [02:16]
Chanley Painter provides context, explaining that the corridor was part of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, intended to facilitate the transport of goods and resources. However, Iran perceives this corridor as a strategic maneuver that could enable NATO to establish a presence “like a viper between Iran and Russia,” as stated by Iran. This threat occurs against the backdrop of heightened U.S.-Iran tensions following President Trump’s previous strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities.
The potential blockage of the trade corridor by Iran could disrupt regional trade dynamics and exacerbate existing tensions between Western powers and Tehran, complicating efforts to stabilize the region.
[02:43] Paul Stevens transitions to a domestic issue, detailing the recent actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Rhode Island.
CB Cotton reports that ICE apprehended Josue Santiago Perez Gomez, a Guatemalan national accused of child predation. The arrest followed Gomez's release back into the community after an initial detention, which ICE had sought through a detainer that was ignored. ICE successfully located Gomez after his release on bail with conditions, contrary to standard procedures.
ICE asserts, “ICE has deprived Mr. Gomez of those rights,” highlighting concerns over the enforcement of bail conditions and the efficacy of detainers in preventing the release of potentially dangerous individuals. Gomez's attorney has not provided a statement, although the Boston Globe quotes the lawyer stating, “Mr. Perez Gomez has a clean record and maintains his innocence, as is his right to do so.”
The episode also covers a harrowing incident in Baltimore, where a shooting during a block party resulted in six injuries, including a five-year-old girl.
Paul Stevens reports, “Gunfire breaking out last night as folks gathered for a block party. A 5-year-old girl was hit in the hand. Her injury does not appear to be serious, but one victim is listed in critical condition and underwent surgery at a hospital. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.”
This tragic event highlights ongoing issues of gun violence and community safety, prompting concerns and discussions about preventive measures and law enforcement responses.
Paul Stevens concludes the episode by reiterating the key stories without delving into promotional content, ensuring listeners are left with a clear understanding of the day’s critical news.
