Outer Banks, the storm isn't making a US Landfall, but tonight and tomorrow are when it gets closest to land. Even though the storm is hundreds of miles offshore, it is huge with its tropical storm force windshield stretching almost 500 miles right now. Forecasters expect that number to grow too. At its peak now, those in mandatory evacuation zones, they should have left by now or they risk being cut off completely by water. Dare county officials tell us they estimate around 85,000 people have evacuated. That's going to be a mix of permanent residents and, of course, those summer visitors.
