On Friday, two federal judges ruled the Trump administration must find a way to continue to pay for SNAP using emergency reserve funds. President Donald Trump says he has instructed executive branch lawyers to ask the court to clarify how the federal government can link legally fund SNAP as soon as possible. He wrote on Truth Social, quote, it is already delayed enough due to the Democrats keeping the government closed through the monthly payment days. And even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while states get the money out. If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the court, it will be my honor to provide the funding just like I did with military and law enforcement pay.

The Senate returns to Washington today to try to reopen the government while the shutdown continues to cause travel problems. The There were some major flight delays at airports across the country this weekend because of the shortage of air traffic controllers. More than 5,200 flights were delayed, 230 canceled on Sunday. Nation's highest court set to take up the legality of President Trump sweeping tariffs on global training partners this week. The president previously said he had planned to attend the oral arguments. Speaking to reporters Sunday night aboard Air Force One, he says that will not be the case.

Voters in New Jersey and Virginia elect new governors on Tuesday, two races that have attracted national party leaders to the campaign trail. Fox News polling last week shows Democrats in both races leading their Republican opponents. The economy, immigration, energy cost and health care are dominant issues. New York City residents are also electing a new mayor in a race that has energized progressives. 34 year old Democratic Socialist Zoran Mamdani holds a commanding double digit lead in polling against former Governor Andrew Cuomo who failed to win the Democratic nomination in this year's primary election. A U.S. district judge has extended her earlier order temporarily stopping the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops into Portland. This extension is now until 5pm Friday. Last week, Judge Karen Immergut held a three day trial hearing arguments claiming that the deployment was illegal. One suspect is in custody in a mass stabbing aboard a London bound train.

Police were questioning a 32 year old British man Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with Saturday's attack that initially left 11 people hospitalized. A second man initially arrested as a suspect was released without charges after police determined that the 35 year old was not involved. Police are not treating the stabbings as an act of terror, but we're still working to determine a possible motive and the specific type of knife or knives used. Both men were arrested eight minutes after the first emergency calls were made at 7:42pm local time Saturday from aboard the train. Paul Stevens, FOX News and in D.C.
