Wheels are turning behind the scenes, but it's unclear if a weekend session can reopen the government. There's a plan to run the government through the end of January. It also funds the Department of Veterans Affairs AG Programs and Congress until next fall. It needs 60 years now. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer offered a straight funding bill yesterday, but he tacked on a year long extension of money for Obamacare. Republicans flatly rejected that. Democrats also blocked for a third time a bill to pay government workers. Democrats believe that bill gave too much power to the president to pick who gets paid. Senate Republicans are hopeful they can get a test vote this weekend. We on the new temporary spending plan.

A lower court had ordered the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP payments through November, but the administration said it could only fund about half since it had to use a contingency fund to pay for it. But the high court has granted the administration's emergency appeal to to temporarily block that order. That blocks only in effect for two days, giving the lower court time to issue a final order on the administration's request to only partially fund snap. However, officials in more than a half dozen states confirmed some SNAP recipients were already issued their full November payments Friday.
