Time to reopen the government. I'm Ted Lindner, FOX News. The longest government shutdown in history is now over after President Trump signed a funding bill that the House had passed just hours earlier Wednesday night. Fox's Kevin Cork with the details.

The president said a couple things that I thought were very important. He said, listen, we really have to terminate the filibuster moving forward so that we can avoid having this happen again. He said this cost over a trillion and a half dollars. But ultimately, he said his party did not give in to extortion. This bill does reverse the widespread layoffs of some federal employees which happened during the shutdown. And there's actually a moratorium on doing that again, at least until January. This also obviously does not include any extension of the Affordable Care act subsidy.

Democrats pledge to continue to fight for those subsidies, which the Senate is expected to vote on in December as the shutdown ends. A top Democratic leader facing increasing calls.

For replacement progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio. Corporate Cortez is facing calls to primary Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. She wouldn't tell FOX News Radio if her fellow New Yorker should be removed as the top Democrat in the Senate.
D (1:12)
This problem is bigger than one person and it actually is bigger than the minority leader in the Senate.
C (1:19)
A handful of Democrats in the House have called on Schumer to resign after the Senate passed a stopgap measure to reopen the government that didn't extend the Affordable Care act tax credits. The Schumer did not vote for the bill and hasn't given any indication he plans to step down. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmell's FOX News.

And Blue Origin says its new Glenn rocket set for liftoff this afternoon. The rocket will carry two NASA probes for the Escapade mission, which will study how hazardous space weather affects Mars. It's part of an effort to design better protection for future spacecraft and the first human explorers on the Red Planet. America's listening to FOX News.
