The Justice Department has a civil rights probe underway into the shooting death of Alex Preddy last weekend. Meantime, former CNN anchor Don Lemon is due in court in LA in on federal civil rights crimes over the protest that disrupted a Minnesota church service. Lemon's attorney calls his arrest last night a violation of First Amendment rights as a journalist. Just getting word. A federal judge has struck down key parts of a Trump executive order aimed at requiring proof of citizenship on voter registration forms and absentee ballot applications. Nonprofit groups sued. The Justice Department can appeal. America is listening to Fox News.

A federal judge gives a partial win to Luigi Mangione, who's charged with gunning down UnitedHealthcare executive Brian Thompson on a New York city street in 2024.

The judge has agreed with Mangione's defense team to throw out the most serious charge against him of murder through of a firearm and another firearms weapons charge. This means that the death penalty is now off the table in this federal case in New York State Fox's Nate.

However, she also ruled prosecutors can use key evidence, including a gun found in Mangione's backpack during his arrest. Both decisions can be appealed. Mangione also still facing a state trial for Utah. Children who were taken by a family member to Croatia are headed back to.

The U.S. the family of the four children who were taken out of the US by their mother in December posted the news of their return in a GoFundMe update, thanking friends and family for their support. They also say the Croatian police have finished their investigation and returned the children's passports. The kids range in age from 3 to 11 years old and were located earlier this month in an orphanage in the Balkans. Their mother, Alicia Ann Seymour, is accused of taking them out of the country without their father's permission, he told police. She said she was worried about the, quote, end of times and biblical events. Seymour was arrested in Dubrovnik, where she was charged with custodial interference. Tonya J. Powers, FOX NEWS.
