The longest ever government shutdown, according to National Air Traffic Controllers Association President Nick Daniels saw the people he represents get one partial paycheck and two zero dollar paychecks despite working full time and in many cases mandatory overtime. Beyond that, Airlines for America CEO Chris Sununu said for the entire shutdown, the industry took a $20 billion hit to America's GDP. The witnesses told the Commerce subcommittee they back bills in both the House and Senate now the Aviation Funding Stability act, which keeps FAA funding going during a shutdown or even if funding isn't passed at the end of a fiscal year.
