President Trump had criticized Cornyn for siding with him on some issues, like ending the filibuster and the Save America Act. The president's endorsement of Paxton angered some Republicans who worry about whether he can prevail over Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. Paxton, though, insists Texas voters wanted change.
