19 year old Carmelo Anthony is charged in the death of 17 year old Austin Metcalfe who was stabbed during an altercation in the bleachers at a Frisco track meet last year. The death quickly drew wide attention in part because of social media posts that focused on the racial dynamic of the case and the as Anthony is black while Metcalf was white. Prosecutors say the attack was unjustified while defense attorneys argue Anthony acted in self defense after being confronted and pushed. Anthony did not testify. If convicted, he could face life in prison. Ted Lindner, FOX News.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao, the second most populated island in the Philippines archipelago. At least 37 people were killed by collapse, collapsing buildings and landslides. Many left coastal homes fearing a tsunami. But the four and a half foot waves caused minimal damage. The quake struck on the first day back at school for students following a two month break. Many of the injured were youngsters gathered for morning assemblies. About 6,000 public school buildings will now need to be assessed before classes can resume. Jonathan Savage, FOX NEWS.

It's Fox's Tony Genualdo in New York City. There were some cheers, but President Trump was loudly booed during the playing of the national anthem before the game. He watched from behind bulletproof glass in a suite with Knicks owner James Dolan, who invited the president to attend. There was a 10 block security perimeter set up outside of the arena.
