Just days after the president's $14 million renovation meant to beautify the pool, green algae appeared. Then its sealant started to peel. Algal blooms have long plagued the reflecting pool. The Washington Post reports, though, that this algae is the most recorded in the month of June in at least the last five. On Wednesday on X, the Interior Department said technology very effectively killed the algae that has plagued every Lincoln reflecting pool reopening most infamously, Obama's reopening since 1922.

The panic began early Friday night at Adventureland in East Farmingdale when the park's wave twister attraction came to a halt, trapping riders 75ft above the ground. Six fire departments were involved in the rescues, which involved putting each rider in a harness and getting them down one by one. It took about two and a half hours to get the riders to safety.
