The house is on recess and won't return till September, but the Senate keeps working with some Trump nominations still being worked on, including Admiral Darrell Caudle, who's the president's pick to take over as chief of naval operations, who faced questions at a hearing.
Admiral Darrell Caudle
During the hearing, Admiral Caudle outlined his underlying principle for the Navy.
I view this nomination as a solemn opportunity to ensure our nations MERI maritime dominance is never surpassed by competitors or adversaries.
But he admits there are challenges, especially from the Chinese, and says the Navy has to both meet that challenge while still maintaining current standards.
Our maritime fighting forces must continue to be lethal, resilient, agile and globally present, capable of deterring conflict and when called upon, achieving decisive victory.
If confirmed, Cotto would replace Admiral Lisa Franchetti, who was fired as chief of naval operations shortly after President Trump took office. Kevin Yoretsky, Fox News On Wall street.
