It's not clear if Zelensky and Putin would sit down together. The push comes as diplomacy ramps up to end the more than three year war. Zelensky insisting that his country will not give up any territory captured by Russia after Trump suggested there could be some, quote, swapping of territories to end the conflict. Meantime, Vice President JD Vance and the UK's Foreign Minister hosted a summit in Britain with Ukrainian and European allies. U.S. officials say significant progress was made. Zelensky also called the meeting constructive.

Wildfire crews in Southern California are making progress against the canyon fire burning just north of Los Angeles. The blaze erupted on Thursday in a remote area near Lake Piru. Officials say it's being fueled by strong winds and dry conditions. So far, it's scorched more than 5,000 acres. The fire is currently about 50% contained and all evacuation orders have been lifted.

California to stand alongside governor Gavin Newsom, and the Democrats insisted their actions in leaving Texas are meant to protect democracy rather than damage it. And Governor Newsom promised that if Texas goes ahead with a redistricting plan that would likely give Republicans five more House seats, then he will bypass California's redistricting commission and pursue a plan for the state that would hand Democrats the same number of seats. With enough Democrats absent in Texas to deny Republicans a quorum, the state attorney general, Ken Paxton, has now filed a legal complaint in California seeking to enforce arrest warrants for the missing Democrats.
