Making defense war again. I'm Dave Anthony, FOX News. President Trump is planning to rebrand the Defense Department in an executive order today, bringing back an old name, the Department of War, but only as a secondary title for now.
B
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegsett will also be referred to as secretary of War, according to the White House. The order instructs Hegseth to propose both legislative and executive actions to make the name change permanent, one of several initiatives the Trump administration is as part of what it calls its warrior ethos campaign.

That's Fox's Jared Halpern @ the White House. National Guard troops will remain on patrol in Washington, D.C. for a while. The commander has extended the mobilization through November in a crackdown the Trump administration says has dramatically reduced crime. Now the president plans to send troops to more cities, saying Chicago would be next, calling crime there out of control. Democrats counter that the crime is down. And Illinois Governor J.B. pritzker says if the Guard goes into Chicago, he will immediately go to court. So that's going to be our first line of defense is getting a court to issue a TRO or other injunction against that activity. The president at a White House dinner with high tech leaders last night backed Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. After a contentious Senate hearing. If you look at what's going on in the world with health and look at this country also with regard to.
C
Health, I like the fact that he's different.
A
Democrats laid into and sparred with the Health and Human Services secretary over vaccine skepticism and the firing of the CDC director and other cutbacks, especially Senator Ron Wyden.
C
The United States is in the midst of a health care calamity.

You've sat in that chair for how long, 20, 25 years, while the chronic disease in our children went up to 76%. And you said nothing? Some Republican senators also questioned Kennedy on vaccines, a legal victory for the Trump administration. A federal appeals court has overruled a federal judge blocking an order to wind down operations at Alligator Alcatraz, the facility housing illegal immigrants. America's listening to FOX News.

Kevin Yuretsky, FOX News. We'll get an update to the economy this morning. The first jobs report since President Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics after big revisions down in hiring for May and June.
E
Economists are forecasting that 75,000 jobs were created during the month, slightly above the much weaker than anticipated tally of 73,000. In July, the unemployment rate is expected to edge up to 4.3%, the highest level in almost four years. To put it into perspective, the April 2023 reading of 3.4% marked a 54 year low.

That's Fox's Hillary Barski on Wall street ahead of the report. Stock futures are mixed, not moving much. The day after big gains for the Dow and the Nasdaq, the NFL is back in. The Philadelphia Eagles, the defending super bowl champions, won the season, beating Dallas 2420 in a game that started with Drama Unsportsmanda defense number 98. Number 98 defense actions has disqualified him from the game. Whoa. The Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter was ejected seconds into the game on NBC for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. There was also drama later with a lightning weather delay. Tonight, another game in Brazil, the Kansas City Chiefs versus the LA Chargers. I'm Dave Anthony. This is FOX News.
