But as his D.C. police intervention ends, federal agents can remain on patrol and so will National Guard. Their deployment already extended through November. And the president says as soon as today he'll announce a crime crackdown in another city. He spoke outside a D.C. restaurant. And then inside as he started to dine, he was met by protesters. Some called him Hitler, chanting free DC Free Palestine. The president did comment outside the restaurant about Israel's war against Hamas going beyond Gaza with an airstrike in Qatar, which has been hosting and mediating peace negotiations.

Hamas says its top leaders who are in Qatar survived Israel's attack, but five lower level members were killed. Russia's war in Ukraine spilled into Poland, a US NATO ally. Multiple Russian drones flew into the country and were shot down. A house in a Polish village was hit. A European Union official calls it intentional and a Russian escalation. A murder in Charlotte, North Carolina has turned into a federal case.

The Justice Department has now charged the attacker with a federal crime, one count of committing an act causing death on mass transportation system without maximum sentence of life in prison or death.
