The ceasefire in Gaza continues to hold as anticipation builds for Hamas to release all remaining Israeli hostages. That's expected to begin sometime Monday morning ahead of a noon deadline. Hamas is still holding 48 hostages right now. About 20 are still believed to be alive. This marks the first phase of President Trump's 20 point peace plan agreed to this week. It includes releasing all hostages and Israeli military pullback, humanitarian aid and freeing Palestinian prisoners. Meantime, thousands of displaced Palestinians are returning to northern Gaza while in Tel Aviv, families rally as they await the return of their loved ones.

Roberts an appeals court rules that National Guard troops sent to Illinois by President Trump can stay in the state and remain under federal control, but they cannot be deployed or put on patrol. For for now, the panel granted a pause in the case until it can hear further arguments. This follows a Thursday ruling by a federal judge that temporarily blocked the deployment, citing no evidence of a danger of rebellion in the state amid the president's immigration crackdown. Members from Texas and Illinois are mostly stationed at a reserve center near Chicago, with a few at an ICE facility in Broadview. As federal judges block his efforts to send troops to major US Cities, President Trump says he may consider using the Insurrection Act. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons on Fox's the Big Weekend show, noting that too many times he's called out to local agencies only for them not to respond.
Todd Lyons
Luckily, under this administration we have that whole of government approach where we do have the atf, dea, the FBI that are out there with their special response teams as well as our special response teams and our SWAT teams handling the situation. But until we really get the support of the state and locals, that's really key in this situation.

President Trump is directing the Defense Department to use all available funds to make sure US Troops are paid Wednesday despite the government shutdown. It's a short term fix that will not apply to the hundreds of thousands of federal workers who have been furloughed. A spokesperson for the White House Office of Management and Budget says Pentagon research and development funds are being tapped, China signaling Sunday that it will not back down in the face of a 100% tariff threat from President Trump, urging the US to resolve differences through negotiations instead of threats.
