Go for what is called the nuclear option. Get rid of the filibuster and get rid of it now. Republican leaders in the Senate have already rejected that idea. But if you nuke the filibuster, the GOP can reopen the government on their own and bring to an end, among other things, flight delays with more air traffic controllers calling out sick.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy furloughed federal workers who aren't on the job in the shutdown haven't gotten any pay. As Republicans and Democrats remain in a stalemate over federal funding, millions of Americans who get food stamp assistance won't get that anymore. Starting tomorrow, though, states have sued the Trump administration trying to get a court to order contingency emergency funds be tapped into. Hurricane Melissa has been hitting Bermuda after causing at least 15 deaths in Jamaica, where the devastation's widespread has hit one of the most powerful hurricanes ever when it hit Jamaica.

The State Department is asking the US Military to help with disaster relief in Jamaica and the Bahamas by providing air support for airlifts of food, water and other supplies to remote areas cut off by Hurricane Melissa.

In Britain, Prince Andrew will no longer be Prince Andrew. Buckingham palace announcing that King Charles is beginning a formal process to remove his brother's remaining titles and evict him from his royal residence. It's continued fallout from Andrew's links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though the palace acknowledges that he continues to deny the allegations against him.
