Federal prosecutors say Michael Gann built at least seven improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, using chemicals he bought online. The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York says Gann used shotgun shells in some of the IEDs, then stored them on the rooftops of apartment buildings and and threw one onto the subway tracks of a bridge that connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. Gann had another device on him when he was arrested on June 5. Investigators found Internet searches by Gann related to explosives and firearms.
