Tillis is not running for reelection and Cornyn lost a primary to a challenger endorsed by President Trump. A Connecticut stepmother has said no to a plea deal in the kidnapping case against her.

Attorneys for Kimberly Sullivan say she has declined Connecticut's offer to plead guilty to charges including first degree kidnapping in exchange for a 30 year sentence that would be suspended after 10 years. Sullivan is accused of holding her stepson captive in an 8 by 9 foot room for two decades. In February 2025, she called 911 to report a fire, telling firefighters. Her stepson was inside the home. They rescued the man, who was in his early 30s, with first responders saying he was emaciated and weighed just 68 pounds. He told them a lock was always kept on his room's door and that he started the fire to gain his freedom. Sullivan has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due in court again in September. The Federal Aviation Administration unveils its plan to change planes over to using unleaded fuel.

The changeover is a requirement of the FAA Reauthorization act passed by Congress two years ago to switch to unleaded aviation fuel by 2030. The plan plays out in stages, which will include testing, approval and ultimately the nationally adopted switch to the new fuel. The plan allows for leaded fuel to continue to be available until the unleaded replacement is easy for local airfields get and use. FAA administrator Brian Bedford called the change a positive move for general aviation that will involve cooperation from aircraft companies, fuel suppliers and airport staff to integrate.
