Lisa Lacera
I'm Lisa Lacera, Fox News. President Trump has signed an executive order taking the first step to rename the Department of Defense the Department of War.
Pete Hegseth
I think it's a much more appropriate name, especially in light of where the world is right now. We have the strongest military in the world. We have the greatest equipment in the world. We have the greatest manufacturers of equipment by far. There's nobody to even compete.
Lisa Lacera
Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth on the reasoning behind the move.
Jimmy Phela
Restoring the warrior ethos, restoring victory and clarity as an end state, restoring intentionality to the use of force.
Lisa Lacera
The Department of War was created in 1799 but was renamed the Defense Department after World War II. The president was asked about the court ruling that stops the order to wind down operations at the Florida detention center known as Alligator Alcatraz, saying he's happy with the decision.
Pete Hegseth
We're taking thousands and thousands of criminals out every month out of our country, some of them murderers.
Lisa Lacera
The president saying Florida did a great job in building the facility. Federal immigration officials have notified lawyers for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man the Trump administration admits was wrongfully deported to El Salvador and since returned to the US that they intend to deport him to the African nation of Eswatini due to his claim of fear of persecution in Uganda and other countries. New York City Mayor Eric Adams staying in the race and slamming opponents Zoran Mamdani and Andrew Cuomo. I have two spoiled brats running for mayor. They were born with silver spoons in their mouths, not like working class New Yorkers.
Jimmy Phela
I'm a working class New Yorker. They are not like us.
Lisa Lacera
Hamdani won the Democratic primary in June. Cuomo and Adams, both Democrats, are running as independents. A short time ago, President Trump said Cuomo has a chance against Mamdani. America is listening to Fox News.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is warning any potential foreign troops against deployment in Ukraine.
Alex Hogan
Russian leader says if foreign troops are sent to Ukraine, especially amid the ongoing war, they will be seen as legitimate targets for Moscow to attack. This week, Ukrainian allies gathered in Paris and they pledged post war support to Kyiv to prevent Russia from striking again. French President Emmanuel Macron said 26 countries have committed to deploying troops as a reassurance force. In Ukraine, Putin has long opposed his neighbor to the east becoming a member of NATO and rejects the latest proposal. In London, Alex Hogan, FOX News.

Steps being taken that would give state and federal prisons the right to jam signals of cell phones smuggled into inmates, a shakeup in the British government.
Jimmy Phela
In her resignation letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the now former deputy prime minister Angela Rayner wrote, I take full responsibility for this error. The prime minister voiced his sadness, but said Rayner had made the right decision. Rayner admitted Wednesday that she did not pay enough tax on her purchase of an apartment this summer on England's south coast. An independent inquiry found that the 45 year old did not meet the ethical standards required for government ministers. The report also found she acted in good faith, but that crucially, she should have sought more specific tax advice. CJ Pappa, FOX News reports have suggested.
Lisa Lacera
Rayner saved the equivalent of around $54,000 by not paying the appropriate tax. Hurricane Kiko is on a path toward Hawaii over the next several days. Forecasters say it'll downgrade to a post tropical cyclone. Right now It's a Category 4 storm, but they say it's too far away from Hawaii to predict an exact track. No watches or warnings are in effect, but in Hawaii are advised to monitor the hurricane's track. I'm Lisa Licera. This is FOX News.
Jimmy Phela
This is Jimmy Phela inviting you to join me for FOX Across America where we'll discuss every single one of the Democrats dumb ideas. Just kidding. It's only a three hour show. Listen live at noon Eastern or get the podcast@foxacrossamerica.com.

The tone in the political sections is pointed, with open critique and strong rhetorical flourishes, while international and disaster coverage is more factual and urgent.
