Charlie Kirk was sitting underneath a small tent in an outdoor area of the campus, a sort of amphitheater. He was addressing a crowd. He had been handing out baseball caps, smiling with the crowd.

Fox's Jonathan Hunt manhunt now for the suspect. Authorities say a person who was taken into custody earlier was not a suspect in the shooting. Secretary of State Marco Rubio posting on X that he's heartbroken and outraged and calling Kirk an incredible husband and father and great American. Former President Obama posting this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. The man who was convicted of killing John Lennon outside his New York city apartment in 1980 has been denied parole for a 14th time. The killer appeared before parole board late month. The decision was recently posted online by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. His next parole hearing is February 2027. There's a sign that inflation is cooling.

The Producer Price Index prices at the wholesale level declined 1.10of a percent in August. It also declined 1.10of a percent for the core PPI, excluding food and energy. For the year ending in August, the PPI was up 2.6% and core PPI on an annual basis was up just 2.8. Both of those numbers are weaker increases than anticipated. And July's PPI numbers have been revised. The increases were not as severe. The Producer Price index peaked at 11.7% in March of 2022. The PPI measures the prices companies pay for things. The Consumer Price Index is released on Thursday.
