The president also added that even with legal clarification, some of these funds will be delayed. And the White House Economic Council director Kevin Hassett pointing the finger at Democrats as well. He says using these emergency funds rather than resolving the issue at hand is risky.
Rich Edson
The idea that they're going to take.
Brian Steele
Our rainy day fund and spend it.
Rich Edson
Like what happens if three weeks.
Kevin Hassett
Yeah. So I'm talking about the delay in SNAP benefits. People will not be seeing those hit their accounts today, maybe even a week from now. As the president said that even once all of this is resolved or if they can tap into these USDA funds, the SNAP emergency reserve, that at that point it's then going to have to go to the states to disperse those funds.

This is yet another stopgap measure that doesn't solve the underlying problem. The underlying problem should be that we should pass the clean crisis and fully reopen the government. This stopgap measure provides funding that doesn't even equal one full month.

President Trump is looking to the courts for help. U.S. airports remain in crisis as air traffic controllers work without pay. Fox's Christina Coleman at lax.
Christina Coleman
There are some flight delays at the major airports in Houston and Boston because of staffing shortages due to the government shutdown. The FAA says nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers have been working for weeks now without pay. And this, of course, is causing some problems. They say there is a surge in call outs right now that straining staffing levels at multiple airports. Half of their core 30 facilities are dealing with staffing shortages and nearly 80% of air traffic controllers are absent at New York area facilities. After 32 days without pay, these employees are working under immense stress and fatigue.

Brian Steele
If such an agency existed today, Donald Trump would pilfer its coffers to facilitate a tax cut, just as he has done these past months to snap to Medicare, to Medicaid, to any program that dares to uplift the poor rather than comfort the wealthy.

Democratic Socialist Zoran Mamdani, who is running for mayor of New York City. He's in a three man contest between independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Lewa.
Zoran Mamdani
These two individuals that I'm running against, Zoron and Cuomo, want to talk about local issues. They want to fly over. They want to talk about issues that are not relative to being mayor of the city of New York.
