Now a very different New Year's Day death. For the first time since 1999, a mountain lion is believed responsible for killing a human in Colorado. Spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife said it happened Thursday as the woman was hiking alone on the Crozier Mountain Trail in Larimer County. That's Fox's suit, Gus. When other hikers found the woman chased the lion away. They tried to save her, but she had no pulse. Day two on the job for New York City's new mayor, Zoran Mamdani, who signed five executive orders after being sworn in. Though Minneapolis police say that no loss was initially reported to officers, the daycare center was not one of the facilities featured in a viral video exposing alleged fraud in Minneapolis, where at least $1 billion in theft has been uncovered, mostly within the Somali community, including fraudulent food, housing, childcare and education payments. There is a murder mystery in Ohio after police found a man in Columbus and his wife shot dead in their home. He was a dentist and someone had called 911 worried when he did not show up to the office on Tuesday. They found also inside the home, two children who were crying, but those kids were unharmed. Police do not believe it was a murder suicide and they're looking for a suspect. On Wall street, stock futures are rising before a new year of trading. It's down to the semifinals in the college playoffs.

Nothing easy in the Big Easy last night. A classic in the Sugar Ball between Ole Miss and Georgia won by Ole Miss 39:34. The Rebels, who trail 21 to 12 at halftime, got a 47 yard field goal with six seconds to go. Ole Miss now 20 in this playoff tournament set to face Miami in the Fiesta bowl next Thursday with the winner to play for the national championship. The other semifinal will be next Friday between Oregon and and the number one seed, Indiana, which won its first Rose bowl ever, 38 to 3 over Alabama, the most lopsided loss by the crimson tide since 1998. Oregon scored a 23 nothing shutout win over Texas Tech.
