The president has harshly criticized Jerome Powell for not cutting interest rates as much or as fast as he wants. The Fed chair in a video statement last night says, in every case I have carried out my duties without political fear or favor. They gave out the Golden Globes last night on cbs.

Back to President Trump on Air Force One following Friday's meeting with oil executives about rebuilding Venezuela's oil industry. After the US Operation the Capitol captured leader Nicolas Maduro. The president suggested Exxon Mobil may not take part after that company's CEO had said that Venezuela is uninvestable.

A series of votes are expected that could lead to final passage of a resolution to limit President Trump's war powers in Venezuela, which the president has threatened to veto if it ends up on his desk. Five Republicans in the Senate voted with Democrats to advance the legislation last week. Meanwhile, bipartisan talks are ongoing for a compromise on extending the Affordable Care act tax credits. But any deal will need 60 votes. In the Senate, lawmakers are also working on a deal to fund the government to avoid a shutdown with a deadline at the end of January.
