Much of the eastern two thirds of the country being impacted by a historic winter storm. Snow and ice reports continue to come in across the plains. Over a half a foot of snow has already been reported along with ice up to three quarters of an inch across northern Louisiana Mountain. Meanwhile, significant snow and ice accumulation expected to continue to lead to widespread power outages and major travel disruptions that will last for several days. And if the snow and ice weren't enough, there's a chance of severe storms across the Gulf coast on Sunday afternoon. The main threat looks to be strong, gusty winds with a brief tornado possible.

Outside Des Moines, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles says President Trump will likely hit the road at least one day per week this year and ramp up those rallies as November's midterm elections near. The idea a is to recreate the enthusiasm from 2024 without President Trump on the ballot. President Trump has warned Republicans that losing control of the House will lead to a third impeachment and derail his agenda at the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News.

Meantime, Mr. Trump praised British troops Saturday for their valor in Afghanistan, this contradicting seemingly what he said days ago about the commitment of troops from Britain and other NATO members.

The president seems to be walking back his statement from Thursday on Mornings With Maria on the Fox Business Network when he questioned NATO's commitment to the U.S. i've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? And that's really the ultimate test. And I'm not sure of that. In fact, they were there after 9 11, the only time NATO has been called on to defend a member nation. More than 450 British troops died in Afghanistan as the US tried to prevent further attacks. Hours after the expiration of a four day truce between the Syrian government and Kurdish led fighters yesterday, Syria's Defense Ministry announcing the ceasefire had been extended by another 15 days. The ministry saying in a statement that the extension was in support of an operation by US Forces to transfer accused Islamic State militants who'd been held in prisons in northeastern Syria to detention centers in Iraq.
