Fox News Hourly Update – July 8, 2025, 8AM ET Newscast
On the morning of July 8, 2025, Fox News Radio delivered a comprehensive update covering a range of pressing national and international issues. Hosted by Chris Foster, the newscast delved into topics from international trade policies and Middle East peace efforts to natural disasters, health policy disputes, local developments, international incidents, weather forecasts, and financial market updates. Below is a detailed summary of the key discussions and insights presented during the episode.
Chris Foster opened the broadcast by addressing significant developments in international trade. "President Trump announces 25% tariffs on imports from two big trading partners, Japan and South Korea. Even higher for some others announced so far," Foster reported at [00:02]. He highlighted the administration's stance, emphasizing ongoing negotiations: "We're always subject to negotiate something that's fair, but we've talked to most of the countries and pretty much they've had their way for many, many decades." The tariffs are slated to take effect on August 1st, signaling a firm move by the U.S. to recalibrate its trade relationships.
The newscast also covered President Trump's remarks on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. During a joint appearance at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump stated, "I think talks to end the war with Hamas and Gaza are going well" ([00:02]). Additionally, Netanyahu revealed that he has nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing Trump's personal significance: "Coming from you in particular, this is very meaningful. Thank you very much."
When questioned about a two-state solution, Netanyahu responded, "I think Palestinians should have all the powers to govern themselves, but none of the powers should threaten us. Revealing Israel and the US are working to find countries to give Palestinians a better future."
Kristen Good provided a grim update on the devastating flash flooding in central Texas. Search teams are meticulously sifting through debris in the aftermath, with the death toll now climbing to 104, including 28 children ([00:02]). "It's day five of that search," Good reported, describing the harrowing scenes of mangled trees and uprooted vehicles. Rescue operations continue as authorities strive to locate dozens of victims still unaccounted for.
In a significant legal development, Sue Guzz reported that a coalition of doctors and public health organizations is suing Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Boston, contests Kennedy's decision to halt recommendations for COVID-19 vaccinations for most children and pregnant women. The coalition, which includes the American Academy of Pediatrics, alleges that Kennedy "flouted federal procedures and misled the American public" ([00:02]). This legal action underscores the ongoing debates surrounding public health policies in the wake of the pandemic.
Kevin Nowsky covered a local news story from Palm Beach County, Florida, where the Board of Commissioners is set to vote on renaming a stretch of Southern Boulevard to honor President Donald J. Trump. The proposal affects a four-mile section running from Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-a-Lago. A new Florida law mandates that the Department of Transportation install a sign honoring the president, with official addresses remaining on Southern Boulevard. "A law passed by the Florida Legislature requires the state's Department of Transportation to put up a sign on Southern Boulevard honoring the president. So this would just take things a step further," Nowsky explained.
An alarming incident in Aurillac, south-central France, was reported by Jonathan Savage. A swarm of bees attacked residents for 30 minutes, resulting in injuries to 24 people, including three critical cases. "One 78-year-old had to be resuscitated after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest," Savage noted ([00:02]). The town's mayor speculated that Asian hornets may have disturbed a beehive, leading to the aggressive behavior of the bees. The affected hive, previously located on a hotel roof terrace for a decade, has since been relocated out of town. Thankfully, all victims are reported to be recovering.
Senior Meteorologist Janice Dean provided a detailed weather forecast, highlighting scattered thunderstorms across the Plains states, including Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. She noted a decrease in heavy rain threats in areas previously hit by catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country over the coming days. Additionally, strong thunderstorms are expected along the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions as a cold front interacts with warm, unstable air masses. Heat advisories are in effect for the Northwest, High Plains, and Southwest, with temperatures expected to rise significantly.
Ahead of the opening bell on Wall Street, the financial markets showed mixed signals. Janice Dean reported that Dow Futures were down by 9 points, while S&P futures saw a modest increase of 7 points. Nasdaq futures, however, surged by 56 points. These fluctuations indicate a volatile trading environment as investors respond to the latest economic and political developments.
