Fox News Hourly Update - 8AM ET 08/11/2025
Release Date: August 11, 2025
The latest update from Fox News highlights the complex dynamics surrounding the ongoing conflict between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.
Dave Anthony opens the segment by emphasizing the necessity of Ukraine's participation in any peace agreement between the US and Russia. "[...] The US And Russia can't make a peace deal without Ukraine's involvement," he states at [00:02].
Mark Meredith elaborates on President Trump's efforts over the past eight months to mediate the conflict. However, he notes a shift in Trump's stance in recent weeks, becoming increasingly critical of Moscow's role. "In recent weeks, though, Trump became much more critical of Moscow, claiming the Russians were not doing anything to end the conflict," Meredith explains at [00:15].
Despite these efforts, Ukraine's President Zelensky has opted not to attend the upcoming summit in Alaska between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelensky remains vigilant, expressing skepticism about Russia's intentions: "We understand Russia's intention to try to deceive America. We will not allow this," he commented on Sunday, as reported by Meredith.
Shifting focus to the Middle East, Mark Meredith reports on Israel's controversial plans to escalate military operations against Hamas in Gaza City. The international community is divided on this approach.
During a conference call, French President Emmanuel Macron criticized Israel's strategy, describing it as "a disaster waiting to happen" at [00:41]. In contrast, Acting U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea defended the U.S. position before a skeptical U.N. Security Council, emphasizing America's commitment to humanitarian efforts: "The United States has been working tirelessly to free the hostages, end this war and give civilians in Gaza a future free of Hamas," she asserted at [00:58].
Dave Anthony transitions to domestic issues, announcing that President Trump is set to unveil intensified law enforcement strategies aimed at combating rising crime rates in Washington, D.C. Scheduled to be detailed within hours, these measures include reassigning over 100 FBI agents to overnight shifts to support local police efforts. This move is corroborated by a recent report from The Washington Post. Additionally, there is potential for the National Guard to be mobilized later in the day.
Despite these measures, D.C.'s mayor reports a positive trend: "the city's crime rate is down 20% though compared to last year," as mentioned at [01:15]. This juxtaposition highlights the administration's proactive stance amidst fluctuating crime statistics.
The segment moves to a poignant story from Maryland, where Madeliner Verrett covers the sentencing of Victor Martinez Hernandez, an illegal immigrant convicted of murdering Rachel Morin, a mother of five. The heinous crime occurred during a 2023 jogging incident.
At the sentencing hearing, Rachel Morin's mother, Patty Morin, expressed her profound grief and struggle with articulating her emotions following the tragedy: "How can I put the value of her life, reduce it to ink and paper and then how do I feel about this person and what he's done to take that life away?" she shared at [01:29].
Hernandez now faces life imprisonment with no chance of parole, marking a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for the Morin family.
Dave Anthony reports on recent violent incidents affecting both international and local communities:
Colombia: A conservative presidential candidate, Senator Miguel Uribe Turbe, tragically lost his life after being shot at a campaign rally in Bogotá on June 7. The attack resulted in severe injuries to Uribe Turbe, leading to his death. A teenage suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident, with additional detentions following in the aftermath at [03:08].
Puerto Rico: Over the weekend, a shooting incident claimed the life of 25-year-old Kevin Morris. Morris had traveled to Puerto Rico to attend a Bad Bunny concert but found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sue Guzman reports that Detective Seymaras witnessed a heated argument in La Perla, escalating to the swift discharge of a firearm, resulting in Morris being fatally shot in the abdomen. Two other individuals in their 40s sustained injuries. Morris's personal life was highlighted through the heartfelt words of his girlfriend, Angie Nicole Argelo, and his mother, who lamented his unfulfilled plans to propose.
Pennsylvania is taking significant strides to position itself as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) development. Tanya J. Powers provides an in-depth look at the state's initiatives:
Pennsylvania lawmakers are actively working to transform the state into an AI hub, with a key hearing scheduled to discuss the development of Data Cent in Lackawanna County, encompassing areas like Scranton, at [04:17]. This effort is part of a broader expansion strategy that includes a substantial $20 billion investment from Amazon to construct two data centers in Bucks and Luzerne counties. Notably, this bipartisan initiative sees Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro collaborating with Republican lawmakers to attract significant technological investments.
Moreover, federal support underscores the importance of this venture. Last month, President Trump attended an AI and energy summit at Carnegie Mellon University, announcing a $90 billion investment in AI, energy, and data center projects, further bolstering Pennsylvania's ambitions in the tech sector at [04:58].
Concluding the news segment, Dave Anthony touches on the financial markets, projecting a positive outlook for Wall Street. Dow futures are anticipated to rise by over 100 points ahead of the opening bell, signaling investor optimism and potential market gains at [04:58].
