A person matching the shooter's description later spotted loading a boat on a marina on a nearby island. The US Coast Guard detained that person, who is now in custody. Crews are bracing for a weather system expected to approach South Carolina as a hurricane in a few days. State's governor is urging residents to remain alert while North Carolina's governor has declared a state of emergency. The system, now known as Tropical Depression nine could soon become Tropical Storm Imelda. Meanwhile, Hurricane Umberto has intensified into a powerful Category 5 storm, bringing dangerous surf and rip currents to the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Bermuda.
