Muhammad Jalo, who was stabbed to death by ROTC cadets after their instructor was shot and killed in March, had been sentenced to prison in 2017. Old Dominion University officials say they weren't aware because Virginia law does not allow them to ask about a student's criminal past. That fact was included in an investigative report on the incident. Jallo killed Lt. Col. Brandon Shaw, who fought with Jallo before being fatally shot. The report praised Shah and the cadets for their actions. The report also recommended that police agencies be more open with colleges about facts on students that could be a danger to their campuses. Michigan have reported another 427 cases of cyclospirasis as the outbreak of an intestinal parasite continues to grow. The number of people in Michigan with the illness now stands at just under 9,700. 160 people have been hospitalized as of July 23rd. Cases of the illness have been reported in at least 41 states this year, but investigators have not determined how many are tied to iceberg lettuce, supplied by Taylor Farms and served at Taco Bell. The online gambling industry is pouring money into the midterm elections.

Sports betting companies have spent at least $72 million so far, according to a Reuters news agency report, supporting midterm candidates Democrats and Republicans hoping to influence state legislation. Online sportsbooks, DraftKings, FanDuel Fanatics and Bet365 launched the win for America super PAC together last November. It funnels money to Democrats through the American Future Political Action Committee and Republicans through the New American Conservative Fund.
