A new study finds monthly government payments to moms who are below the poverty line did not help improve the lives of their children.

The results of this new study on universal basic income show no improved outcomes for kids. In this study, families below the poverty line were given monthly payments of $333. The study found it did nothing to boost children's well being. The kids were not more likely to develop better language skills or avoid behavioral problems and developmental delays. For that reason, the researchers lay out that their study had consistent null results which, quote, may indicate that cash income alone does not have a causal effect on young children's development in the contemporary policy context. So universal basic income without work requirements makes no impact on a child's well being. AEI says it would be dangerous to switch to this model from a work required aid model.
