The battle over redistricting in Texas continues. I'm Ted Lindner. Fox News. Texas Republicans on Wednesday taking the first step towards approving new congressional maps. They will give their party as many as five new seats in the House of Representatives, spurring what's likely to be a national battle over redistricting. 88 ayes, 52 nays, House Bill 4 passes to engrossment. The Texas House initially approving the new Texas congressional redistricting map with another final House vote still to come. As Hurricane Aaron continues to grow, so does the threat it poses to the East Coast. Fox Weather's Steve Benders got the latest from Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

Storm surge is a major threat for North Carolina tonight, even into coastal Virginia as we could see the surge in areas like Hatteras island out towards Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, three to four feet above dry ground. With that tropical storm force winds anywhere for 40 to to 70 mile per hour winds constantly through Wednesday evening into the day on Thursday. This is going to go through multiple high tide cycles which won't allow that salt water to release. We've already seen some big impacts in the Outer Banks leading up to Aram. The U.S. marshals Service is offering $500 rewards for information leading to an arrest in D.C. during the public safety surge. Pushback today from Russia's foreign minister after the U.S. and European leaders appear to be making progress on a potential peace deal to end the war in Ukraine.

The White House is not reacting after the Kremlin poured cold water on these claims of progress that we've been talking about Russia saying that they won't agree to security guarantees for Ukraine unless Russia is part of the group providing that security. This is what the foreign minister, Sergei.

Lavrov, said seriously discussing security issues without the Russian Federation is an utopia, a road to nowhere.

Russian state media the Kremlin dug in further, saying security guarantees should come from the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, which also includes China, giving Moscow another lever to veto implementation.

Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte submitting a criminal referral for Cook, who he alleges falsely claimed two properties as primary residences to get favorable mortgage terms, one in Michigan and one in Atlanta bought within two weeks of each other in 2021. Pulte Ads Cook rented out the Atlanta residence. He says no one is above the law, though Cook responded in a statement late today saying that, quote, I have no intention of being bullied to step down from my position because of some questions raised in a tweet. I do intend to take any questions about my financial history seriously as a member of the Federal Reserve, and also I am gathering accurate information to answer any legitimate questions and provide the facts.
