President Trump says the US has carried out the strike in the Southern Command area, adding intelligence confirmed the boat was carrying illicit narcotics and he says three people were killed. The Virginia U.S. attorney who's been conducting an investigation into allegations of mortgage fraud by New York Attorney General Letitia James is leaving his job, according to the Associated Press, which reports Eric Siebert and is resigning under pressure from the Trump administration after his inquiry into AG James has not resulted in criminal charges. President Trump nominated Siebert for the job after working for the U.S. attorney's Office for more than a decade.

Siebert's top deputy is also leaving. It's not immediately clear who will replace him. Estonia says three Russian fighter jets entered its airspace in what it calls a brazen incursion for at least 12 minutes. Estonia's Foreign minister calls the incident unprecedently brazen. This coming just over a week after NATO planes downed Russian drones over Poland, raising concerns about the Russian war in Ukraine spilling over into other neighboring countries. Russian officials deny being in Estonian airspace. The Senate's confirmed a former administration official as the next UN Ambassador.

Michael Waltz has been confirmed by the Senate with three Democrats supporting his nomination. Waltz served as President Trump's national security adviser and faced pushback from Democrats concerned after he added a journalist to a group chat discussing national security matters on the app Signal. President Trump and Republicans touted Waltz's experience and his strong relationships with House Republicans during his time in Congress.

Secretary Duffy's letter to Maryland's Democratic governor Wes Moore highlights budget and timeline concerns in addition to quote, unconstitutional DEI practices. At issue are the disadvantaged business enterprise goals established by Moore in 2023 for a percentage of contracts to be awarded to women owned and minority businesses. Duffy also wants information about how the state will pay for the $1.8 billion it must contribute for the rebuild. A spending bill passed by Congress in December 2024 fully funded the Key Bridge replacement. Last month, President Trump said he may have to rethink that decision. President Mark A. Welsh III is announced he's stepping down this coming more than a week after video of a student confronting a professor about gender content in a children's literature course went viral. Welsh did not give a specific reason for stepping down or if political pressure played a role in the resignation, but said it's become clear over the past few days for it's time for him to leave. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration delaying the implementation of updates to the US government's new car assessment program, the delay.
