Officials in Southern California warning of a rise in deadly DUI crashes involving drivers inhaling nitrous oxide.
Summer Stephan
San Diego County District attorney Summer Stephan, revealing Since October of 2024, the county sheriff's crime lab received 30 requests for inhalant testing involving nitrous oxide, also known as whippets, noting 29 of those cases involved DUI drivers. 18 were involved in traffic collisions, eight were felon level offenses with three resulting in deaths. Steffen says, we are currently prosecuting three cases that include evidence of DUI drivers believed to have done whippets before the separate crashes that killed or seriously injured their passengers or other drivers. While nitrous oxide is legal for a slew of purposes, California has criminalized the recreational use of the drug, which involves inhaling the gas to get high. Kristen Goodwin, FOX News.

With incumbent Mayor Eric Adams having ended his independent reelection campaign campaign, it appears most of his supporters are turning to former Governor Andrew Cuomo, also running as an independent, now at 33%. In the latest Quinnipiac University poll. The Democrats nominee Zoran Mamdani, though still way ahead at 46%. Last month it was 45% to Cuomo's 23. Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa holds steady at 15% support. Mamdani supporters are most enthusiastic about voting for him. 90% of them say so, 85% of SLIWA supporters say it, 69% of Cuomo supporters describe themselves as enthusiastic. Chris Foster, FOX News.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened another investigation into Tesla's so called full self driving technology after dozens of incidents where the cars ran red lights or drove on the wrong side of the road, sometimes crashing into other vehicles and endangering drivers. The agency Sundays it is 58 incident reports of Tesla vehicles violating traffic safety laws while operating in full self driving mode. I'm Lisa Licera. This is FOX News.
