But he said for now the focus is on rebuilding and safety.

A California man agrees to plead guilty to acting as an illegal agent for the Chinese government.

He worked as a campaign advisor to a candidate elected to Arcadia, California, city council in 2022. She's not accused of doing anything wrong. Sun's accused of being part of China's long game operation to infiltrate and influence American politics. The plea agreement says he followed instructions to post pro China content on the candidate's website and worked with another illegal Chinese agent, Chen Jr. Who was sentenced last year to 20 months in prison. The son is expected in court on Monday.
