The judge in the case against Luigi Mangione is weighing whether to allow key evidence to be seen by jurors in his murder trial. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4, 2024, outside a hotel in midtown Manhattan. The hearings only deal with a state criminal case against Mangione. He also faces federal charges that could bring the death penalty. Over the weekend, the Manhattan attorney's office released new photos of evidence, including a pocket knife with zip ties and a handwritten to do list that was allegedly in Mangione's pocket when he was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania. An attempted coup in West Africa appears to have failed.

The president of Benin has condemned a coup that he says has been thwarted by his country's army. Yesterday, a group of soldiers appeared on Benin's state TV station to announce the government had been dissolved. But later, Benin's interior minister announced on that the coup had been foiled. Appearing on television, President Patrice Talon said what he called fleeing mutineers were still holding hostages and indicated that some people may have died in the incident but didn't provide numbers. The woman fired after making a string of racist comments to a black Somali couple throwing the N word into the mix as the couple filmed her warning her that she was going to lose her job. The Cinnabon worker admitting on camera she's a racist while making obscene gestures. It's not clear what started the diatribe. Cinnabon saying the ex employee's actions do not reflect the values of Cinnabon.
