Weighing his options. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. A team will brief President Trump Tuesday on his options for intervening on behalf of protesters in Iran. The Wall Street Journal reports those options include taking military action.
Lucas Tomlinson
We've heard now from the Iranian regime saying they are threatening counterattacks should the Trump administration decide to launch strikes inside Iran. And as military options go, none appear immediate. There are no aircraft carrier strike groups in the region. Ford remains in the Caribbean, George Washington and Lincoln in the western Pacific. One of those carriers is likely to be dispatched to the Middle east in the coming days. Might take a week to get there, though. There are strike aircraft in the region.

Fox's Lucas Tomlinson reporting. Activists say the number of people killed in those Iranian crackdowns over the past two weeks of protest has soared to more than 500, with many more feared dead. A U Haul truck plowed into a group of protesters in Westwood, California today during a demonstration in support for the Iranian people. Cell phone video shows people punching the driver as they tried to pull him from the truck. Police have not identified that driver. In Minneapolis, people upset over the fatal shooting of Renee Goode by an ICE agent are flooding the streets of many cities across the country.
Garrett Tunney
Activists were handing out fly encouraging people to sign up and take part in anti ICE activities, which federal officials say are ramping up across the country and making it more dangerous to enforce the law. Agents had a large crowd gathering around them as they were carrying out an immigration enforcement operation and that crowd swarmed the agents cars after they detained one person and then drove away.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says federal prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation against him, but he says he won't be intimidated. He claims the probe is really about the Fed's decision to set interest rates based on his own assessment rather than on what President Trump wants. Powell released a video statement tonight.
Jerome Powell
The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public rather than following the preferences of the president.

Powell says the Justice Department issued grand jury subpoenas tied to his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee last June, which included discussions of renovations to the Federal Reserve buildings. A gunman shot and wounded a Greenville, South Carolina police officer today as he sat in his patrol car. Officers later shot and killed the suspect during a chase after and gunfight. That officer was treated at a hospital and is home with his family now. The Greenville county medical examiner identified the suspect as 42 year old David William Lane of Greenville. No word on the motive, but the local sheriff calls the attack an ambush. Hollywood's awards season kicked off tonight with this year's Golden Globes.

Host: Carmen Roberts (FOX News)
This Fox News Hourly Update provides a concise roundup of major national and international events as of January 11, 2026. Key stories include escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, civil unrest across American cities in response to both domestic and international incidents, a significant legal development involving Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, a police shooting in South Carolina, and highlights from the opening of Hollywood's awards season.
[00:02–00:44]
Carmen Roberts opens with breaking news: President Trump is scheduled for a briefing on Tuesday regarding possible U.S. intervention to support Iranian protesters. Military action is among the options.
Lucas Tomlinson relays Iran's warning of “counterattacks” should the U.S. strike. Notably, there are currently no U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups in the region, though deployments to the Middle East are expected soon.
The U.S. does have strike aircraft in the vicinity, but any significant deployment (e.g., a carrier group) will take several days to arrive.
Over 500 people have reportedly been killed in the Iranian government's crackdowns over two weeks of protests, with higher casualties feared.
[00:44–01:47]
A U-Haul truck drove into a crowd during a pro-Iran demonstration in Westwood, California. The driver was attacked by the crowd but remains unnamed by police.
In Minneapolis and other cities, protests erupted over “the fatal shooting of Renee Goode by an ICE agent,” resulting in sizable crowds and tense confrontations with federal agents.
Federal officials note an increased danger to agents as crowd sizes and anti-ICE actions grow.
A notable scene: a crowd swarmed agents’ cars as they detain a suspect and attempt to drive away.
[02:31–03:01]
Carmen Roberts reports that Fed Chair Jerome Powell is the subject of a criminal investigation by federal prosecutors.
Powell claims the probe is retaliation for setting interest rates based on economic reasoning rather than presidential preference.
Grand jury subpoenas were reportedly issued relating to his Senate Banking Committee testimony and Fed property renovations.
