The call comes a day after President Trump posted online warnings to airlines that airspace over and around Venezuela should be considered closed amid his crackdown on drug smuggling from South America to the U.S. venezuela's government condemned the statement and accused Trump of making a colonialist threat. Lawmakers from both parties say they support congressional reviews of U.S. military strikes against alleged drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. And they cited a published report that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth used a verbal order for the US to kill all crew members on a boat as part of a Sept. 2 attack. Lawmaker said they did not know if that report in the Washington Post was true, but attacking survivors poses serious legal concerns. And Democratic Senator Tim Kaine said if true, that would rise to the level of a war crime. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says today's U. S. Ukraine talks on ending the war in Ukraine were productive, but there's a lot more work to do.
