Speaking in Simi valley, Hegseth redirected U.S. military priorities to the Western Hemisphere, told allies to step up their own defense and eased his rhetoric towards China's military. His speech comes as the Trump administration faces intense questioning over the deadly strikes on the suspected drug smuggling boats and whether they violated international law. Meantime, Ukraine says Russia launched a major missile and drone attack, targeting energy infrastructure and triggering air raid alerts. As the US Sponsored peace talks continued, Ukrainian forces shot down many of the drones and missiles. But at least eight people were injured and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant temporarily lost power during the assault. Chief Justice John Roberts has led the Supreme Court's conservative majority on a steady march of increasing power of the presidency. And now the high court has agreed to take up the issue of birthright citizenship.

The Supreme Court agrees to take up the constitutionality of President Trump's order on birthright citizenship. Trump's order not to grant American citizenship to children born to people in the US Illegally or temporarily was struck down by a lower court. Birthright citizenship, which is part of the 14th Amendment, is the first Trump immigration related policy to reach the high court for a final ruling.
