The Belgian federation is, quote, astonished by FIFA's decision to suspend the ban, citing Article 27 of its Disciplinary code. Three people dead, 21 shot, three stabbed in various attacks over the long holiday weekend. Two police officers are among those wounded, but are expected to recover. Homicides are up 5% in Chicago right now compared to the same time last year. But the crime wasn't just in the Windy City. In Brooklyn, an 18 year old was arrested on Sunday after firing seven times into an unmarked police car. Officer Robert Carroll, a husband father of three who was set to retire in just 10 days, was shot in the back, but he only has minor injuries because he was wearing his bulletproof vest.

President Trump's 2025 executive order creating the Department of Government Efficiency also established an end to it as well this year, on July 4, Doge claims it saved $215 billion, including by canceling diversity, equity and inclusion grants, terminating leases for underused office space and slashing duplicate software licenses. Its public receipts do not fully document the headline savings claim. Doge initially claimed it would save taxpayers $2 trillion before reducing its goal to 1 trillion and eventually falling far short of that.
