But 10 million people who live here in LA county are waking up to news this morning that their tax dollars may soon be going to help illegal immigrants and their families after the Board.
A
Of Supervisors voted to declare that emergency over the Trump administration crackdown. And fox's Bill Mluchin also reports that.

Emergency declaration will give LA county the power to provide taxpayer funded rent relief, legal services and other assistance to those the county says have been affected by ICE rates.

A nice statement says those Los Angeles supervisors are giving a middle finger to the law as anti ICE protests continue in the Chicago area with law enforcement versus protesters. Homeland Security says there's credible intelligence. Criminal organizations in Mexico keep offering bounties for street gangs to target federal agents. One alleged gang member is already charged with offering money for someone to kill Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino, who tells FOX we have criminals ramming vehicles, criminals bringing guns to protests. This is not regular street crime here in Chicago. Israel's ratcheting up the pressure on Hamas to release the rest of the dead hostages it agreed to in the ceasefire in Gaza. First it only handed over the remains of four and then more.
C
Four bodies returned, but only three of them were Israeli hostages. The Israeli military says forensic examination of the fourth does not show a match to anyone they were expecting. The news will add to tensions as families await the return of 21 deceased loved ones. The first phase of President Donald Trump's peace plan had a deadline for Hamas to return all hostages living and dead by noon local time on Monday.

Fox's Jonathan Savage there's also a new ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it's only a 48 hour pause to days of fighting along the border that's killed dozens of people. The Supreme Court will take up a voting rights case this morning, considering for a second time congressional redistricting in Louisiana and if the map's drawn, racially discriminated illegally. On Wall Street. There are some gains to start the day. The dow is up 356 points. The NASDAQ is rising 259, the S&P 500 gaining 60 war points. Some bank stocks are rising after better than expected earnings. Meanwhile, as the government shutdown continues. We aren't getting data on the economy and it's affecting a Social Security cost of living increase.

Originally due this week, the announcement is now expected October 24th. The delay tied to the unreleased consumer price index is making it harder for retirees to plan their finances. Advocates warn the projected 2.7% increase won't keep pace with rising costs. Some lawmakers are pushing to change how the numbers are calculated, factoring in expenses like health care. New benefit amounts will be shared in December, with changes taking effect January 1st. Ted Lindner, Fox News.

The price of oil is up about a quarter. It's almost 59 bucks a barrel again, while gas drops another penny. AAA's national average for regular $3.06 per gallon, a nickel less than last Wednesday, 14 cents cheaper than a year ago. Some healthcare clinics and hospitals have a staffing issue now.
F
About 31,000 registered nurses, pharmacists, midwives and other frontline Kaiser Permanente health care workers are ticket lines demanding better wages and more staffing to keep up with patient demand. Their five day strike kicked off on Tuesday and affects 500 medical centers and offices in California, Hawaii and Oregon.

That's fox's Tanya J. Powers. In baseball, the defending champion Dodgers now only two wins away from playing in the World Series again. And a swing and a miss. And Yoshi Yamamoto with his crown jewel as a Dodger. He pitched the first complete game in the postseason in eight years, leading Los Angeles past Milwaukee 51 on TBS, giving the Dodgers a 2 nothing lead over the brewers in the National League Championship Series. Tonight, the ALCS resumes. The Seattle Mariners won the first two games of that series, beating the Blue Jays in Toronto. I'm Dave Anthony and this is FOX News.
