Residual delays. I'm Lisa Licera, FOX News. It's up to the House now to vote on the measure to end the government shutdown after the Senate passed a short term spending bill last night. But the damage has been done in the form of flight delays and cancellations with over 1200 cancellations today due to a lack of air traffic controllers.

On Saturday we had 81 staffing triggers. Today we have four. So I think our air traffic controllers are seeing an end to the shutdown and feel more hopeful.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Airports in Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and the New York area has seen the bulk of the cancellations and delays. President Trump's plan to give Americans payments from tariff revenue would increase federal deficits.

A proposal to pay low and middle income Americans $2,000 a person from new tariff revenue for would cost about $600 billion, according to a study from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. The analysis assumes the payments would go to both adults and children, similar to Covid era payments that were made. So far, tariffs imposed by President Trump have generated about $100 billion in revenue and are projected to raise about $300 billion per year. Given that, the study finds dividend payments would cost about twice as much as revenue raise.
