President Trump just said while leaving the White House before flying to attend golf's Ryder cup in New York he thinks they may have a ceasefire deal for Gaza. Former FBI Director James Comey is facing an arraignment next month, though he insists he's innocent, posting on Instagram after his indictment. My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump. Comey's charged with making a false statement to Congress and obstructing a proceeding over 2020 testimony related to the FBI's investigation into Russian election interference and allegations of Trump campaign collusion. The president on truth social calls Comey corrupt and he should pay a big price. Inflation inched up last month in a gauge the Federal Reserve tracks closely while considering another interest rate cut.

Now to Wall street after three straight losing days, a big rebound. The dow is up 348 points. The NASDAQ is gaining 81, the S&P 500 adding 37 points. The price of oil up a half dollar back over 65 bucks a barrel. But gas is down a penny. AAA's national average for regular $3.14 a gallon now a nickel less than a week ago. More tariffs are coming on more imports. President Trump posted that on Truth Social.

The newly announced tariffs concern specific products. The president announcing that starting October 1st there will be a 100% charge on any pharmaceutical product unless a company is building its pharmaceutical plant in the U.S. in that case, there will be no tariffs. Mr. Trump also announced a 50% charge on imported kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and associated products, as well as a 30% fee on unupholstered furniture being imported into the country. The Supreme Court will hear challenges to the president's authority to impose tariffs on November 5th. President Trump has imposed the tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
