The judge has agreed with Mangione's defense team to throw out the most serious charge against him of murder through use of a firearm and another firearms weapons charge. This means that the death penalty is now off the table in this federal case in New York State. As far as the state case doesn't do the death penalty, the other big decision, the judge denied Mangione's defense team's request to suppress some of the evidence.

Threatening military action on Iran while pushing for talks with Tehran. This as the Treasury Department slaps new sanctions on Iranian officials over a deadly crackdown on protests.

The U.S. treasury Department says Among those sanctioned is Eskandar Momeni Caligari. The interior minister is in charge of Iran's law enforcement forces believed to have killed thousands of protesters. An Iranian investor believed to have embezzled millions of dollars in oil revenue is named as well. And sanctions apply to two digital asset exchanges linked to this investor. IRGC commanders from various provinces are designated too. While the U. S based Human Rights Activist news agency estimates at least 6,000 protesters have been killed, others suspect the number is far higher. The USS Abraham Lincoln and its carrier strike group arrived in the Arabian Sea this week. Iranian officials, including their foreign minister, have promised to retaliate should there US Strike.
