On shipping in the Red Sea. Fox's Jack Callahan has a story.
Jack Callahan
A group of armed men in small boats firing guns and launching rocket propelled grenades at a maritime vessel in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen on Sunday. The crew reported the vessel was taking on water and they were preparing to abandon ship. So far, there's been no claim of responsibility. But suspicion would point heavily to the Houthi rebels who in solidarity with Hamas, have targeted more than 100 merchant vessels in the last two years, sinking two of them and killing four sailors. Also greatly reducing the flow of trade through the Red Sea corridor, which typically sees $1 trillion of goods move through it every year. Jack Callahan, Fox News.

The Hamas run Gaza health ministry says the Israeli airstrikes killed at least 38 Palestinians as Israel sent a cease fire negotiating team to Qatar. President Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow and says he's optimistic a 60 day ceasefire can be put in place as soon as this week. He says the truce would call for talks to end the war for good. I'm Dariel Albeit, this is FOX News.

Hosted by Darielle Alminger, the episode delves into the devastating floods in Texas, federal and international responses, domestic political debates, maritime security issues, and the ongoing Middle East conflict. Below is a detailed summary of the key discussions and insights presented.
Darielle Alminger opens the episode with an urgent report on the severe flooding wreaking havoc across Texas. Highlighting the grim toll, she states:
"Nearly 80 people are dead."
(00:02)
The floodwaters have been exacerbated by continuous rainfall, with forecasts predicting more rain in Central Texas, potentially worsening the situation. Alminger emphasizes the solidarity among rescue teams:
"There's more rain in the forecast for Central Texas and that could add to the catastrophic flooding across the Texas hill country. Nearly 80 people are dead."
(00:02)
Mayor Joe Henning Jr. of Kerrville provides assurance regarding the rescue operations:
"It's not a bunch of different teams. It's one team. Our goal is to rescue those in peril and find those who are lost."
(00:19)
The podcast transitions to the federal response, with Madeleine Rivera reporting from Washington. The White House has been actively monitoring the disaster, with President Trump extending his condolences:
"Melania and I are praying for all the families impacted by this horrible tragedy. Our brave first responders are on site doing what they do best. God bless the families and God bless Texas."
(00:44)
Vice President J.D. Vance echoes the administration's sentiments:
"Our nation's heart breaks for the victims in Texas and their families. Just an incomprehensible tragedy."
(00:44)
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is on the ground, coordinating efforts to ensure that affected areas receive necessary support. The administration has pledged to modernize the National Weather Service's technology, which Noem criticizes as "ancient and neglected" (01:20).
The episode covers the recent BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, where developing nations voiced their concerns over global economic issues. Key points include:
Condemnation of Tariffs and Attacks on Iran: The BRICS bloc criticized the imposition of tariffs and the ongoing assaults on Iran, though President Trump was notably absent from direct mentions (01:20).
Tensions in the Middle East: The summit delegates took a stance against Israel's military actions in the Middle East, reflecting increasing international scrutiny.
Ukraine Situation: Despite global tensions, Ukraine was minimally referenced, highlighting shifting geopolitical priorities (01:20).
Absence of Key Leaders: China's President Xi Jinping did not attend the summit for the first time in years, and Russian President Vladimir Putin opted to participate virtually, signaling potential shifts in international alliances and strategies (01:20).
The discussion shifts to the controversial tax bill championed by President Trump. Kevin Uretsky provides an analysis of the legislative debate:
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson defends the bill, emphasizing its economic benefits:
"The most important economic part of the bill was making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent."
(02:31)
He further claims that:
"The bottom 20% of earners saw their lowest federal tax rate in 40 years."
(02:45)
Additional benefits highlighted include the elimination of taxes on overtime and tips, which Johnson asserts will result in the average American household having:
"$13,000 more in take-home pay."
(02:55)
However, California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna challenges these assertions, arguing:
"I just don't think that taking away the health care with the Medicaid cuts and food assistance to give the tax breaks for the very wealthy is going to be good for working and middle-class Americans."
(03:04)
This exchange underscores the deep partisan divide over economic policies and their impact on different socioeconomic groups.
Jack Callahan reports on escalating maritime threats in the Red Sea, a crucial global trade corridor:
A recent incident involved armed men in small boats attacking a vessel off Yemen's coast, firing guns and rocket-propelled grenades. The vessel's crew reported significant damage, leading to fears of abandoning ship. While no group has claimed responsibility, suspicions point towards Houthi rebels, who have a history of targeting merchant vessels:
"Houthi rebels... have targeted more than 100 merchant vessels in the last two years, sinking two of them and killing four sailors."
(03:24)
These attacks have significantly disrupted the flow of trade through the Red Sea, a vital artery for approximately $1 trillion worth of goods annually.
The episode also addresses the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. According to Gaza's health ministry:
"The Israeli airstrikes killed at least 38 Palestinians."
(04:00)
In response to the escalating violence, Israel has dispatched a ceasefire negotiating team to Qatar. President Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with hopes of establishing a 60-day ceasefire, which Trump optimistically suggests could be in place as soon as the following week:
"He's optimistic a 60-day ceasefire can be put in place as soon as this week. He says the truce would call for talks to end the war for good."
(04:00)
