British counterterrorism police say Jihad al Shami called emergency dispatchers during the attack last Thursday to say, I have killed two Jews in the name of the Islamic State. He had just driven his car into people outside Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester, then stabbed at least two people before being shot and killed by police. He stabbed one person to death. Another was killed by a police bullet that also hit one of the three people injured. El Shami was a 35 year old father of three with no known ties to any terrorist organization.
