He was arrested in 2024 and is accused of plotting murders and ordering torture as he and his co founder, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman grew the cartel into the world's largest drug trafficking organization. Prosecutors say they flooded the US with tons of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamines and other drugs. Zambada, who was 70, pleaded guilty in August of 2025 after the death penalty was taken off the table. The Television Academy is trimming its Primetime Emmy telecast, voting to move five categories off the September 14th broadcast and onto the earlier ceremony September 5th and 6th. The categories getting bumped writing for a variety series, supporting actor and actress in a limited series or movie and writing, directing for a limited series or movie. That brings the PrimeTime Countdown to 19 awards compared to 26 last year. The Academy says the goal more creativity with room for musical performances, comedy bits and speeches that aren't racing the clock. The PrimeTime Emmys air September 14th on NBC.
