A panel of federal judges has ruled North Carolina's 2023 redistricting map did not violate the Constitution or the Voting Rights Act.

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina reworked their congressional lines in 2023. The state used to have seven seats for Democrats and seven for Republicans. They changed three of those Democrat seats to lean Republican. A number of black groups and voters sued, but the three judge panel of the fourth Circuit Court of Appeals said they couldn't find any evidence. The lawmakers redrew the congressional lines using racial data. While partisan gerrymandering is allowed, racial gerrymandering is not. The judges found that due to the high number of black voters in the state, changes would naturally impact black voters. A more recent change to make the state's first Congressional District lean red has not been ruled on yet. Jessica Rosenthal, FOX News A special election.

Set for next April in New Jersey for the congressional seat formerly held by Mikey Sherrill, who resigned last week after she was elected the state's next governor. The northern New Jersey district had long been held by Republicans but has been more Democratic in the past 10 years. A Florida homeowners association has shelled out almost a quarter of a million dollars to settle a lawsuit filed over what one homeowner placed in their yard.

A community development district in the Villages told Wayne and Bonnie Anderson a 1 foot tall cross in their yard violated community standards. It would have to go. They said no and were fined $25 a day. The last I heard was $44,000. The Andersons refused to pay, so the homeowners association sued them. Now, more than five years later, a court ordered settlement. The HOA pays $173,000 in court costs and legal fees and 70 grand to the Andersons and agrees the cross can stay.
