He said the operation will be led by Joint Task Force Southern Sphere and the US Southern Command, writing the mission defends our homeland from the drugs that are killing our people. The US Southern Command is the US military's combatant command. It encompasses 31 countries through south and Central America and the Caribbean. Now that the longest government shutdown in history is over, federal employees will start getting paychecks as soon as this weekend.
