ceasefire the three day ceasefire beginning May 9 and ending May 11, coincides with victory Day, when Russia marks the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. In a social media post, President Trump says the ceasefire will include a suspension of all kinetic activity and a prisoner swap of 1,000 prisoners from each country. The ceasefire announcement comes a day after special envoy Steve Whitcomb and Jared Kushner met with Ukraine's top negotiator in Miami.

Fox's Jared Halpert, the White House Ukraine's President Zelensky, in a statement, said Ukraine's decision on how to engage with the ceasefire discussions was shaped in part by the prospect of freeing its prisoners. Ukraine has made the return of prisoners of war a central demand throughout the conflict. As the White House awaits word from Iran on its latest peace proposal, US Central Command says it's taken aim at several Iranian tankers.

Cameras will be allowed in the courtroom for the entire trial of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of gunning down Charlie Kirk while he spoke on a Utah college campus last September. The defense had argued cameras could impact the outcome of the trial. Judge Tony Graff also agreeing to push Robinson's preliminary hearing to early July. Alabama Republicans have asked the US Supreme Court to clear the way for the state to pursue a new congressional map after the high court decision last week to not allow Louisiana to create a second majority black congressional district. Officials in Spain are preparing to receive passengers and crew on board a cruise ship carrying hantavirus patients.

The MV Hondius, the site of a deadly Honda outbreak with more than 140 passengers and crew on board is expected to reach a Spanish island off the coast of West Africa this weekend. Seventeen of those on board are Americans. At least three passengers have died and several others are sick. On April 24, nearly two weeks after the first passenger died on the ship, more than two dozen people from at least 12 different countries got off the vessel without contact tracing. It wasn't until May 2 that hantavirus was confirmed in a passenger. According to the World Health Organization. A possible breakthrough as authorities in California search for the remains of Kristen Smart, a college student who was murdered in 1996. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson says evidence suggests human remains were present at the home of Susan Flores, mother of Paul Flores, the man convicted of killing Smart in 2022. Four men accused in the 2021 assassination of Haiti's president Giovanna Moais, are found guilty by a US Court in Florida.

Those four men, Archangel Pretty Ortiz, Antonio Intriago, Walter Viente Mia and James Solages, were accused of plotting the killing of the late president from locations in South Florida. The scheme resulted in the 2021ambush at Moises home in Port au Prince. The assassination sent the Caribbean nation into lawless chaos from which it has yet to recover.
